Evolutionary Genetics Tasmania

Our research focuses on a range of evolutionary questions involving the application of population genetic and phylogenetic tools to understand the impacts of environmental processes on the distribution of both terrestrial and marine organisms.

The group’s research shares the theme of studying spatial and temporal population dynamics. Using contemporary and ancient DNA, we study how past events and contemporary processes have shaped the distribution, population size, and genetic diversity of species.

Our projects include both field and lab components, as we believe that the best understanding of our research organisms can be obtained from a combined approach.
